Ananth Krishnan is an Indian journalist and is currently visiting fellow at Brookings India, where he is researching on India-China economic relations. He was previously associate editor and China bureau chief for the India Today Group, leading the China coverage of group publications, including India Today magazine, India Today Television channel and Beijing‘s Mail Today newspaper. The group is India's largest media organization, with the English-language India Today Television and Hindi-language channel Aaj Tak reaching more than 50 million people.

Krishnan reported from Beijing for nine years. Before joining India Today, he worked for The Hindu newspaper, reporting from its Beijing bureau from 2009 until 2014. His reporting has taken him to all but three of China's 33 provinces and regions. He is one of the few foreign journalists to have interviewed Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, the Foreign Minister, Defence Minister and other Chinese leaders.

Krishnan holds bachelor's degrees in History and Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Ananth also holds a master's degree in History from the University of Chicago, where he studied the relationship between the film industry and politics in southern India.

His research as an AsiaGlobal Fellow will explore some of the less explored aspects of India-China relations, specifically the problems and challenges in expanding people-to-people engagement.
