Mr George Lwanda is a regional program adviser on extractive industries at the UNDP Africa regional centre. His work involves working with African countries in Sub-Sahara Africa to implement mining policies and law reform. He has an MSc in Economic Management and Policy from the University of Strathclyde and is currently studying for an LLM in mining law. 

He is also an alumnus of the Mo Ibrahim Governance and Development residential school and The Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI) residential school on multi-dimensional poverty, and a former South Africa Institute of International Affairs Eskom-Barrat fellow. 

His research will be on the lessons that African countries can learn from the formulation and implementation of SEZs in China.
