Asia Global Institute Welcomes Second  Cohort, AsiaGlobal Fellows Program

The Asia Global Institute (AGI) is pleased to welcome the second cohort of the AsiaGlobal Fellows Program. The AsiaGlobal Fellows will be primarily based at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) from August 20 to November 16, 2018. Fellows who have strong leadership potential have been selected for this year’s intake and this group of diverse individuals come from different parts of the world, including neighboring Asian countries, Europe, Africa and the Americas.

The second cohort includes inspiring influencers such as Vera Kobalia (appointed as Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development at the age of 28, Georgia), Wallace Yu (formerly investment banker in London and now fund manager at China Investment Corporation, a Hong Kong native), Tegshbayar Darambazar (formerly Specialist at the Prime Minister’s Office, Mongolia), and Amit Wanchoo (a medical doctor turned into an advocate of peacemaking in Kashmir, India).

During the 13-week residential program, our fellows will have the opportunity to participate in lectures by academics, senior government officials and business leaders, skill-training workshops, and study trips to other cities in China. They are also fully immersed in the AsiaGlobal Fellows community.

The AsiaGlobal Fellows Program is directed and administered by the Asia Global Institute, a multidisciplinary research institute at the University. AGI’s mission is to generate and disseminate innovative thinking and policy-relevant, practical research on global issues from Asian perspectives. It aims to inform global and national policy and actions towards a prosperous and sustainable future for all.

The AsiaGlobal Fellows Program is carried out under the overall supervision of Professor Zhiwu Chen, Victor and William Fung Professor in Economics and Director of AGI at HKU. The Program Director is Mr K C Kwok, Honorary Senior Research Fellow in the Faculty & Business and Economics at HKU, and formerly Government Economist of the Hong Kong SAR Government.
