While ties between China and the Gulf states have a strong foundation and great potential, the road ahead is not without challenges, writes Ebrahim Hashem. As it gets more deeply involved in the Middle East, Beijing will have to maintain its delicately balanced relations across the region. Meanwhile, Gulf countries will have to navigate the US-China great-power rivalry and resist taking sides.
